Two-Timer It’s a yellow thing
Jeff and Leanne Randolph from Elkhart, Indiana, have been rodding for a long time.
Problem Child (Our Kind of Problem)
Keith Conifer out of Flushing, Michigan, comes from a family of rodders and he always loved the looks of both early roadster pickups and ‘40 Fords.
Friendly Ford
One of the benefits of this job is you start to see cars as stories. Stories of most cars are lost over the years and replaced by new ones, but we magazine Joes get to save a few of the stories from the monster of time. Like all rods, Larry and Barb Hibbler’s ‘34 Ford Tudor sedan has lots of stories, but we see a story about friends.
The Experience of a Lifetime (42nd Annual Street Rod National)
If you have created a “Bucket List” of things to experience in your lifetime, one you must add is the NSRA Street Rod Nationals Plus.
Cooked One of Many
There are a million ways to enjoy rods and we approve of them all, but we love the style of people like Bob and Peggy Cook from Fresno, California. Bob Cook has always been a car guy.
AIRBORNE Auburn
One of the things we miss about yesteryear is the way we fly on a plane. Flying today is horrible. It used to be one of the great parts of any adventure. The airlines made every attempt to make their passengers feel like something special.
Major Fabrication is Done Now it’s Time for the Pretty Stuff
The crew at Tucci Hot Rods in Marcy, New York, has assembled one amazing Speed 33 roadster for one of you lucky NSRA members.
Heading Toward Paint and Final Assembly
There is an age-old question that has been floating around for years; “What separates the men from the boys?” When it comes to building a rod, that separation usually comes up with creating a basic design element for your project and sticking to it.
A Giant Leap Forward – the powertrain has arrived
The last major component of the 2011 NSRA Giveaway “Speed 33” arrived at the Tucci Hot Rods shop recently and the crew didn’t hesitate to get it installed so progress can continue.
Installing the Hood and Interior Components

3 Strikes one Home Run
Gary and Nancy Pettigrew’s ‘35 Hupmobile may have taken a few tries to get the look just right, but the result is a rod that has been a staff favorite for years.
Basement Gold (this one ain’t restored)
Ricky Potter started out in the ‘70 s rebuilding his grandfather’s old’53 Ford F100 and was then hooked fixin’ up old cars.
Fifties Forty
John Corbett and his wife, Roma, courted back in the ‘50s, while John made really good time between the street lights in Azusa, California, in his ’40 Ford coupe.
The Corvette in the Barn
It’s every car-guy’s fantasy to casually peer into a long for- gotten garage, barn or warehouse and find the car he has searched for his whole life.
Double-Nickel Expre55
The most feared question magazine editors face at any event is, “How do I get my car in the magazine?” Most magazine types run at the early signs of this question. One of our favorite things about StreetScene is we are able to run plenty of pics of all kinds and styles of cars, so when we have a minute we run over and get a quick photo.
Marlan and Jo ’35 Buick
Early in our marriage money was tight and I certainly wasn’t thinking about my husband, Marlan, purchasing ANOTHER street rod. We had one roadworthy rod (`36 Ford coupe) another in storage (’35 Buick sedan), wasn’t that enough? But when given the “opportunity” to buy a rare, steel, primo, mostly complete ‘34 Ford coupe, any cash-flow concerns were quickly justified by my car-loving husband.

UPHOLSTERY MARKS THE END OF AN INCREDIBLE JOURNEY
During any car-build, installing the upholstery usually marks the end of the project. Next step is adding fluids, starting the engine, final tuning and checking everything one more time.

When Chris Julis and his sister were small kids they rode in the rumble seat of their dad’s Deuce. Dad, John Julis, has been in the street rod industry for many years as a manufacturer’s rep for a number of major street rod companies and has enjoyed 24 years of roadster driving.

ALOTSADOORS To fit the whole Lund clean
The Vortecheaded smallblock Chevy looks good surrounded by fine sheetmetal work done by Ray. He cleaned up the firewall, kept the stock four-piece hood and custom fabricated the body-colored fan shroud.
BEFORE BODY MEETS FRAME
With the chassis work completed and the body assembled, this year’s 2010 National Street Rod Association Giveaway car is getting all the details finalized this month.
FROM DOZENS OF PARTS A ROADSTER APPEARS
Just like a jigsaw puzzle, you have to start with one piece and build from there. In assembling a Brookville body from parts, it all begins by mounting the firewall and lower front cowl panels to the frame.
Some Assembly Required
Dave and Ida Frazier from Abington, Massachusetts, have been having a great time in their ’69 Chevy Camaro they built with the extra money they had after the kids graduated college.
